To find a different perspective
We had been taking pictures (lots of them!) from the beginning of this odyssey to find our forever house. It became clear that we had a limited perspective, always being at ground level. So it occurred that adding a different perspective would add to our ability to record and appreciate our progress.
I chose a DJI Mini SE, a bottom-of-the-line quadcopter with a decent camera. And I set out to become a drone pilot - and learn to better record the events and progress.
In addition to providing an exciting and stimulating photography tool, learning to pilot it showed me that I had a lot to learn about piloting. Within a month of my flying adventures I lodged it 30 feet up in a tall hemlock on a neighbors property. The video of that crash showed some really rotten piloting!
I thought of giving up the idea of a drone, but most of the time flying was fun - and I began to appreciate the videos I could record. And I began to revive a long-lost interest in making simple movies.
I bought a second Mini SE and because cautious in my piloting.
Along the way I recorded some very interesting parts of our project. And we say the land and environment in a different way. Now flying my drone is a regular event - at least in good weather.
