Firewood for the firewood crib
Once we had a fire pit, the need for firewood to burn there bacame obvious. So David collected deadwood along the fence bordering our property and the forest reserve. There was a plentiful supply there, the only requirement was to pull it out and break it up.
We collected it into the truck and took it over to the firepit., where it was obvious that we needed a crib for the sticks and branches. Maura was ready with a design and a plan. Soon we were cutting pieces and placing them in the crib. When the crib showed plenty or extra space,
David took the chainsaw down to the west end of our property and sawed rounds from a fallen tree. As he dumped the rounds, he saw the long-used axe wasn't up to all the splitting, so he got a splitting wedge and broke the rounds into smaller pieces. Neighbor Mark donated another crib and we were stacking and admiring the collection of input to the fire pit.
Time for some sunset evening gatherings, maybe even with family and grandchildren! Another result of shared vision and collaboration. We are a great team
