Setting up the crane
The day we had been looking toward for months happened on March 21 - delivery of the modules for the future house. This was a big deal! To have a house that day everything needed to go smoothly. Of course, there were several glitches.
A huge crane was needed to lift (fly) each module from a trailer to the foundation. Two trucks arrived first. The first glitch was that a much larger crane had arrived than we were prepared for (expected crane was unavailable), which required that we widen the area where it would be parked. Right away, a second glitch struck - the excavator that was on site wouldn't start because of a dead battery. So, charge the battery, clear a wider area and move the large crane into place.
Meanwhile, the first truck carrying module one arrived, so it sat for a while.
The primary crane truck had a trailer the carried weights that needed to be transferred to the crane as counterweights. We all watch with amazement at the size and complexity of situating the crane.
Eventually, the crane was in place and TImberland workers prepared the first module for its fly-in!
